"Quietus" can be defined as: death or something that causes death, regarded as a release from life.
This is one in a series of four pieces. All pieces in the series focus on themes of life and death that we are unintentionally creating and the hopefulness of possibly reversing it.
It is an original piece of art depicting the ripple effects of loss of beauty and loss of life that are happening in the world due to careless choices. Through the use of bright colors, bold shapes and patterns I also tried to create a feeling of hopefulness and to show the connectedness of how even the smallest details effect every part of our world.
It comes ready to hang in a walnut stained floating frame.
The background is painted. The queen bee is made of vintage wall paper and has been finished with hand stitching around the edges. The "bubbles" are hand stitched, cross-stitch over black aida fabric. All of the "bubbles" have been sealed. The tiny bees are hand stitched directly onto the canvas.
