“Forever 28”
The colors in this piece were inspired by a favorite dress I used to wear.
This piece is only 4 inches in diameter and I love the impact it gives in such a small scale. I used a vintage, wooden embroidery hoop to create the loom and frame for this weaving. The wood and warp strings have been left exposed and it also features a metal hanger at the top.

SOLD OUT!
This pair of triangle shaped weavings chronicle a journey from distress to relief.
The vivid blocks of color within each piece represent the oppressive heat of midsummer, a metaphor for a difficult period I endured. In completion, they represent a transitioning into a time of greater happiness and serenity revealing the colors to also be viewed as joyous.
“Cruel Summer”
This piece was created for a group exhibition at Mix Creative and will be shown at Valley Junction Gallery Night on Friday, October 10.
Multiple events and emotions inspired this piece. The size was determined by the show which had a requirement that each piece be 4 inches x 4 inches or less. The colors, themes and title were inspired by summer and my feelings about the season.
The summer heat can be very oppressive, and I personally struggle during this time of year. While working on this piece, I also experienced a painful loss that made me want to focus on the sweetness of the season which is shown through the joyful colors and theme of each “bubble”.
This work was created with hand embroidered crewel and cross stitches. Each circle was stitched over aida fabric and then attached to the background fabric. The crewel stitches were done directly onto the pink background fabric. Everything is highlighted with a metallic gold thread.
